Winter is Starting

I walked mainly on Boys' Walk today. The cooler weather seems to keep most of the interesting birds inactive. There are the usual Magpies and Currawongs, Fairy-wrens and so on, but not a lot of interesting ones around. I did not see the Owlet-nightjar today.

The Dusky Moorhens are still on the pond at the end of Hayward Place. There are currently two there most of the time. This morning one of them climbed out on to some weed, giving a rare glimpse at its feet. They are weed eaters, and spend a lot of time diving to retrieve the parts of the weed they like.

Once again the Eastern Yellow Robins played interference with me, stopping right in front of the camera. They must be the easiest bird to photograph by a long shot.

The Brown Cuckoo Doves were around. There is a lot of ripe Privet around and this one was so intent on eating the berries that it hardly noticed me. There were not a lot of Silvereyes around this morning, which is a little surprising as they love Privet berries too.
