Avondale College Walks

This is a map of the walks on the Avondale College Property. Note that this is private property but the public is welcome to use it at their own risk.

Access Points

1. The Cemetery Carpark: From Freemans Drive, enter College Drive near Avondale Memorial Church, Drive ~300m then turn right at the Avondale SDA Cemetery sign.  Follow this road down to the bottom of the slope where it does a left turn. The cemetery chapel and its carpark is directly ahead. The only issue that you will have parking there is when there is a funeral on.
   
2. Student Carpark: This carpark is acessable during the weekends and also all week during College Breaks.  Drive into the College. Just after passing the main boom-gate(it will automatically open as you approach slowly), turn left, then turn left again. You will approach another boom-gate but it will usually be up during the periods mentioned above. I find it best to park in the overflow park on the gravel. Girls Walk starts and finishes directly below the carpark.
3. The Swing Bridge: Park near the bottom of Victory St. There is a cul-de-sac to the left at the end of Victory St. A concreted right-of-way goes between the houses (directly west for those that are not directionally challenged) and once you pass the houses on the right, you will see the swing bridge.

Safety

These tracks are mainly easy walking but you should take the normal precautions that you would in any bush area. Snakes (usually Red-bellied Blacks) are seen quite often during the warmer seasons. Mosquitos can also be a problem. Leeches are present particularly during wet periods.
