Winter Blues
Birds - at least new and interesting birds are in a bit of short supply currently. There are the usual little flocks of Silvereyes around the Tobacco Bush on Bowys Walk, and I have noticed a few King Parrots hanging around. The King Parrots don't appear to be interested in the Tobacco Bush berries at the moment though (probably too green for them).
Carmel and I went out to Wybung Head to do a bit of whale watching on Sunday. There were quite a few whales in view (estimated about 20). At any one time there was some evidence in view of the presence of whales. There were quite a few Australasian Gannets fishing in the area. A lot of them were like the one in the picture a "fresh juvenile" (I think that means less than a year old). Some of them were fishing quite close to shore.
Carmel saw a Brahminy Kite that I missed. I was further chagrined when Mark Smith, a photographer I met out there and was talking to for a while, posted a beautiful photo of the Brahminy taken just after I left. Just goes to show that I should listen to Carmel more carefully.
