Boy's Walk - The Fox

My morning walk was going to be a long walk without a  lot of photography because I had only walked a short distance the previous day. However it turned out to be interesting when a fox crossed my path. I have seen foxes before, either too far way, or moving too quickly to be photographed. But today, the camera was pointing the right direction and I reacted quickly enough to get about 4 photographs before it disappeared into the undergrowth. His coat appeared to be in good condition and ready for winter.
I always have two minds when I see foxes. They are beautiful intelligent creatures, but they are so destructive of our wildlife. It is estimated there are over 6 million foxes in Australia - that means that a lot of food is required to feed this top-level predator.
The walk began with a couple of Masked Lapwings standing on the road intersection near home. They seemed quite happy to stay around as I walked past. They have nested in the area in the past so I guess it is possible that they are thinking of doing it again. I will keep my eyes open for their nests. That is: eggs layed on the grass just about anywhere.
Of course the Yellow Robins made a nuisance of themselves by sitting directly in front of me and looking cute. They must be the easiest of all birds to photograph!

The Currawongs were very noisy today. I walked for a couple of hours this morning and could hear Currawongs calling most of the time. I noticed them flying at tree-top height over the cleared spaces qutie frequently as well.
The Red-browed finches were feeding near the beginning of the tree tunnel. Unlike the last few times I have seen them, these ones appeared to be adults because their eyebrows were clearly visible. They are very had to get close to.
There was a lone Brown Cuckoo-dove feeding on the path, and further along I flushed a Wonga Pigeon off the track as well. The Brown Cuckoo-dave remained in view while I walked past, but the Wonga disappeared on the other side of the creek.

I looked for the Fig-birds on Avondale College Drive where I saw them last week but they were not around. They may have migrated by now but I will check occasionally.
