Beauty Point Road Walk
I walked the track from the Swing Bridge down past Vet Corner, almost to Beauty Point Road this morning. There were not a lot of birds around before 8am but after that the small birds in the tops of the trees came to life. Mainly Yellow-faced Honeyeaters, but they awere far too high to get any photographs of them.
I found a pair of Bar-shouldered Doves in the dead trees underneath the high voltage powerlines and did battle with the lines and dead sticks to get photos of them. Bar-shouldered Doves become quite skittish when they think you are going to photograph them, so it was no surprise that one flew off almost immediately. the whole exercise was made more difficult because of the amount of dead sticks lying on the ground, making it difficult to walk anywhere quietly.
A Common Myna teased me from a fence at one stage. I often ignore then but the light was good and this one looked quite handsome. It's annoying when such a pest bird looks so photogenic. I photographed this one because I cannot afford to pass up the opportunity to do a bit of practice.
A Grey Fantail was enjoying the warm sunshine and took the opportunity to tease me as it went about its morning toilet. I am sure that it was fully aware that I was trying to photograph it and it would peek at me from behind the branches to see what I was up to.
