A Couple of Slow Days
I don't always see a lot of birds on my walks, and sometimes something totally unexpected turns up. A couple of days ago, we noticed that the birdbath was quite popular. It wasn't a particularly warm day but this Rainbow Lorikeet spent quite some time bathing and drying itself off.
I was waiting near the rough patch below Ella Boyd Hall on Sandy Creek Walk to see if the Buff-banded Rails would show up again. (They did, but I did not get any photos as they were too quick.) I saw this White-faced Heron in a shaft of sunlightm through the scrub on the bank of Sandy Creek. My instinct told me that it would make a nice photo. I only got one chance, The click of the camera disturbed it and if flew off making a couple of croaking calls.
